RATTLING
Low–Medium SeverityCause: Loose panels, screws, or debris (leaves, twigs) in the outdoor condenser unit. Can also be a loose blower wheel.
Check for debris in the condenser. If the rattling is internal, call Bradford to inspect the blower assembly.
CLICKING AT STARTUP/SHUTDOWN
Normal SeverityCause: A single click at startup and shutdown is normal — it's the relay switching. Rapid or continuous clicking indicates a failing relay or capacitor.
Continuous clicking = call Bradford same day. The capacitor or contactor may be failing.
HISSING OR BUBBLING
High SeverityCause: Hissing usually indicates a refrigerant leak. Bubbling or gurgling can mean refrigerant is low or there's air in the refrigerant lines.
Call Bradford immediately. Refrigerant leaks are EPA-regulated and require a licensed technician to repair and recharge.
GURGLING NEAR INDOOR UNIT
Medium SeverityCause: A clogged or slow condensate drain line. The gurgling is air bubbles passing through standing water in the drain pan or line.
Check the drain pan for standing water. If full, call Bradford for same-day drain line clearing to prevent overflow damage.
